About Beaver Furniture...

The late Colin Almack founded the business in 1960 and built a reputation as a cabinet maker of exceptional quality, specialising in working with English Oak. The business continues as a small family run company led by his son in law, David Glegg, himself a master craftsman.

Beaver TrademarkThe distinctive carved "Beaver" trademark Colin created can found on our furniture that takes pride of place in private homes, public schools and boardrooms all over the world

Specialist commissions have included work for Eton & Ampleforth Colleges , Daniel Thwaites Brewery and Gosforth Golf Club.

The ultimate accolade came in 1989 when Colin, David and the team were presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh in recognition for their work on the new Chapter House at London 's Southwark Cathedral.

Our workshop and showroom in North Yorkshire, are the heart of our business. Unlike many furniture makers our furniture is not mass produced and we don't sell through retail outlets. Our customers come back year after year and a high proportion of our sales are customer recommendations.

All our furniture is made on the premises by our small team of skilled craftsmen. Our craftsmen serve a 5 year apprenticeship before they qualify and they take full responsibility for their work right through from the original drawing to the final wax polishing.

We source all our oak from sustainable English woodlands and we are proud to support the Forestry Stewardship Scheme and associated rural communities.
